New Hair Testing Rule Signed by Wyoming Governor Mead
May 1, 2018Tuesday, May 1, 2018 Brande J. Koltiska, Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission
Wyoming Governor, Matthew H. Mead signed the new rule change to allow hair testing on equine athletes, effective immediately.
The new language clarifies and gives direction regarding what equine testing samples are permissible and corrects language with regard to banned controlled substances. In furthering the Commission’s mission to provide the highest level of integrity in all pari-mutuel events, the Commission sees the need to embrace new technological advances in testing capabilities. “By adding hair testing, the Commission will prevent and deter fraudulent activities,” said Executive Director Charles Moore.
